The ride today started with the climb out of the Pend Oreille River valley. It was not a difficult climb and I enjoyed the cool weather in the early morning. Once I reached the top, I had a beautiful ride in the mountains and forests, with a stop for second breakfast at Beaver Lodge.
I pulled off the road for a “scenic view” of Crystal Falls:
Later, there were some nice views in the valleys near Colville:
Sounds like the same story as yesterday (will be repeated across Washington!), early start for the ride up Sherman Pass and down to Republic. It will be a bit of a climb …

Nice pictures! Thank you. Not long and you’ll be home now!
Glad you were able to have a second breakfast! Are you camping?
Camping last night. Warmshowers tonight.
Judy it is Wednesday night and I am in Minot ND driving to seattle. Do you have any estimate where you will be on Friday night and Saturday? I might try to track you down if you would like a little company for a while.
Hi Don, I sent you an email with expected places.
Looks like this stretch through Washington is some of the most beautiful country to ride in of the whole trip. Plenty of up and down – hope Sherman pass gives you good views after the climb! I think I remember that you said there were 5 passes in this part of the ride. I hope Don catches up with you – much better than flying over you as I did!
