69-Clark Fork-Sandpoint

30.2 miles/ +659.6 ft/ Total miles 2996.2

Most of the ride today was on Hwy 200, which has too much traffic and too little shoulder to be enjoyable. For a few miles the route was on the old highway parallel to the new one, and that part was nice.

View of Lake Pend Oreille:

I pulled off at an overlook when I spied two long-distance riders.

They are from Alaska, and are riding from Seattle to Missoula for a high school reunion. They shared a lot of valuable intel about the route across Washington and places to stay (or not stay, such as the motels in Ione, Washington).

I will take a day off tomorrow and find interesting things to do in Sandpoint.

  1. Hey Judy, its Ray. I have been enjoying seeing your trip. I still haven’t got past Clare yet. My collarbone is healing pretty well now. I admire you doing this. I think its amazing really! I see a lot like you on the trail but never followed them on their sites. I am glad you’re doing good and almost home!

    1. Hi Ray, I’m glad your collarbone is healing well. It’s nice that you have such a good bike path so you can keep riding, and doing a little more as time goes on. I thought the ride to Clare was very nice. Lots of birds!
