20-Marysville-Yale: Maintenance Day

33.9 miles/ +586.2 ft/ Total miles 881.5

I took a detour off the Adventure Cycling route to go to Alpine Cycles in Port Huron- and I’m glad I did! The bike was not shifting smoothly any more and I needed a replacement SPD cleat. It turned out that the chain was totally worn out, so they replaced it and tuned up everything so the bike is working great again. Thank you, Alpine Cycles!

While they worked on my bike, I stopped by at Elite Feet Running Store to see if I could find some useful items (mainly underwear).  The manager asked about my trip, and then asked if he could take my picture to post on their Facebook page! Thank you for such a warm welcome and a great send-off!

I’ve ridden almost 900 miles, so now the US map showing all my overnight stops is beginning to look like I’ve made a serious dent in the cross-country ride:

I will be in Michigan for a while: west to Ludington on Lake Michigan, and then north along the Lake Michigan shoreline to Mackinaw Bridge, and the west across the Upper Peninsula before I finally drop into northern Wisconsin.

I’m staying in an old hotel on the main street of Yale, Michigan.

  1. Good looking map, Judy! Progress indeed. I had dinner at the Yale Hotel on my way East last summer! Yale claims to be the “Bologna Capital of the World.” You’ll love Michigan’s rail trails once you link up with them in another day or so. — Dave
