Arrived in Boston

11.8 miles, 607.4 ft elevation gain

The bike arrived at Harris Cyclery yesterday and I arrived at Logan Airport this morning. I took the train and bus to the bike shop and caught a picture with the guys there, along with my bike:

Harris Cyclery is well-known as the shop where Sheldon Brown worked. Brown kept up a website with an amazing amount of detailed information about bikes, components, customization, old bikes, etc. I used it many times to look up various details.

I rode to Hyde Park (where my sister lives) on back streets of Newton, Dedham, and Boston. On Enneking Parkway, I encountered a road closure but the police officer flagged me through. It was nice to have the road to myself.I came around a bend and found the crew working on a project for MWRA (sewer projects are everywhere, of course):

Nice weather today – partly cloudy, about 60 degrees. Forecast for the weekend has rain, so it looks likely that I will get wet on the first day of the trip.

  1. Judy, your picture makes the weather look great – at least you’ll be heading into summer with less and less rain as you go along. Wishing you much more great biking weather.
