Minnesota

In Minnesota, there are choices. The Adventure Cycling maps have a spur route to Minneapolis/ St. Paul, which I am not planning to take. North of St. Cloud, there is a choice to head north toward Brainard and Walker (Heartland Alternative), or to continue westward from Bowlus on Northern Tier 5 (Trails Alternative).  I am planning to take the Trails Alternative, which is shown below.

And then onto Northern Tier 5 Trails Alternative at Bowlus.

The Trails Alternative includes 107 miles on the Central Lakes, Lake Wobegon, and Soo Line state trails. Before Fargo, I will transition back to riding on the roads. I expect to see some thunderstorms in Minnesota, but I’m hoping not to see any tornadoes. Northern Tier Map 5 ends at Fargo, North Dakota.
