I was riding on the interstate most of the way today. To the non-cyclists, that sounds bad, but actually it is good. The rolling hills are smoothed out, grades are easy, and there is an 8-ft shoulder. And very light traffic. So in the heat out here, riding on I-94 is just fine.

I stopped at Painted Canyon Visitor Center, Theodore Roosevelt NP:

Back on the interstate, I was riding through more canyons, with the prairie dogs scampering around just off the highway shoulder.

Then these views:

Now I am in Medora, home of the Medora Musical, one of the main tourist attractions in North Dakota. The town has about 115 residents. The amphitheater seats about 2,900. So that is a lot of tourists! I got tickets for the dinner and the Musical, so I can enjoy the total experience here.

  1. I’m struck by how much the scenery has changed, even since yesterday! Looks like you are truly in the West now. I hope you enjoy the music event.

  2. Good ride!!! Wish we were there to go to the fondue and the musical with you. enjoy an extra brownie for us!

  3. I hope the musical is fun! A surprise to hear about after your beautiful, austere, and uninhabited landscape pictures…!

    1. Definitely a long way from Coleman now! I hope you are out riding your bike too. I really liked the Pete Marquette Trail.
