17-Port Dover-Port Stanley: Cycling with Canadians, eh?

67.7 miles (108.9 km)/ +1,679 ft/ Total distance 732.9 miles (1.179.5 km)

Two metric century days in a row!

A few miles out of Port Dover, I came across a Tuesday group ride. OK, it was a group of two plus me, and we rode together about 20 miles to Port Rowan, where we stopped for coffee and muffins. It was great for me to have companisionship on the road, and a chance to exchange stories with Canadian cyclists – who are riding on vintage steel bikes – an Eddy Merckx and a Colnago.

Here they are on the road:

And me with each of them, at a viewpoint toward Long Point. The point is a wildlife refuge.

All day I saw wind turbines, and I even stopped near Port Burwell to find out a little more about the wind farm in that area. There are also solar panels on many roofs and also some in the farm fields. And in the farm fields, they were harvesting asparagus.
